There are spoilers ahead.
This book is the story between Maitland and Marisa. It isnt bad, but just because 2 people have good chemistry between the sheets does not mean they will fall in love. I have read so many book where that is what ends up being the case. The 2 main characters feel that good sex is the basis for love, and that is simply not the case. I felt like there was no actual emotional development between these two characters.
The story with the villainess progresses decently, we find out yet another name for her, so we still basically have nothing. We do find out that Hadley's father was the worst.
Something I really did appreciate about this book, was even though Marisa and Maitland got their HEA, they kind of didnt. Most historical romances end up with children for the happy couple, and this one, will be childless because of an accident that caused Marisa to have her womb removed. So yay for slightly different ending, but I skimmed about 80% of this book.
