My husband keeps asking me about my book. I try to tell him, but then it gets all confusing and hard to pin down. So much happened in this book, and the twists and turns kept my head spinning. This isn't bad neccesarly, but he may never know what this book is about.

What I liked

- The characters shine. I love how much attention this author gives to all his characters. They have so much personality and aren't one dimensional. It is so refreshing.

- the ending was great. Questioning both the reader and the characters and made for a great cliffhanger.

- the idea was interesting. While I can understand why some people think this book is a mess and has bad messages, I don't think it does. Yes, girls and boys were seperated and are against eachother. I think he's just showing the extreme sides of both, and how the dean is exaggerating it. I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously when they say things like:

“Boys respond best to beatings and withholding of any food. “

What I disliked ( SPOILERS )

- I really disliked the chapters where they were running away in the begining. It felt slow and no matter how many times I read through what was going on, I wasn't ever exactly sure. Once we got to the school, everything made sense though.

- Sophie really pissed me off. I guess she's supposed to but I wanted to slap her with a fish once she was falling for tedros. REALLY? You went through all this and you have a thing for the guy who wants you dead and that your supposed best friend is in love with.

- things happen quickly in some parts, and it feels sort of clunky. There won't be any build up or there won't be much description on what's going on so unless you read extremely carefully or reread, you may not understand what's going on. The transitions just didn't seem smooth.
