Our economy is in danger on multiple fronts: on the one hand, wealth and power are increasingly concentrated in the hands of just a few, groups who exercise too much sway over Washington; and on the other hand, the decline in real earning power of the middle and lower class has meant that the engine of economic growth that powered the prosperity of the post-WWII era has run out of gas. The solution, as Reich articulates clearly, is to shift the tax burden in our society in a way that both generates greater income for the lower classes and also creates more opportunities.
