I liked this better than the previous one, though I still hate James. :-D
And I hate it when people hate Agatha. But I suppose it's because WE know her, and what's going inside her mind, her insecurities, and worries and problems and sorrows, and THEY only see what she's projecting. And that's a middle-aged woman with bear eyes, bob, nice legs, and a little pudgy figure, who's very assertive, and rather graceless.
One thing, though.
“So you are all laughing at a middle-aged, ugly, unpleasant trout who is being romanced by this handsome, young fellow, you want to date? Interesting. What does that make of you, then? How nasty you must be if he rather romances me than you? He isn't getting any benefits, you know. Other than some food. It's not like he's my toy boy. I'm not buying him expensive presents or giving him any connections. Why is he romancing me, if I'm such a nasty bitch? Huh? Maybe you could think about that next time you want to gossip about me. Also, if he's ready to whore himself over some mutton for no benefits at all, why would he be faithful to you? And what will happen to you when you are a middle-aged woman, and 80% of the world population is younger than you? When he just gets more handsome and attractive when he grows older, and you get less so? If you manage to get him to marry you, which isn't at all certain, whom will he cheat on you with? His new secretary? A client? Some other middle-aged trout like me?
Is it that funny any longer? Is it funny at all?
And all the while, I get to have sex with a young, handsome man. And maybe he's in it for some shady reasons - after all, I am old and not especially attractive, so it's highly likely - but he is smart enough to try to hide it from me, which means that he won't be making any nasty scenes. He's very pleasant, and it's all just physical. I am getting exactly what I want, darling. So why would I care about office gossip? Isn't it just jealousy? You'd like to be me, wouldn't you?
