Gabbi Black tackles a different side of BDSM and one we do not often read about in literature, unless it is BDSM written badly (laugh). Black writes a thoughtful and provocative story of a woman who was dominated by an extreme dominant. After four years, he leaves her and she is floundering.
Gage is coming back into the scene after a two year absence. His last relationship with his sub was very loving and not a 24/7 power relationship. He is not looking for anything permanent, but maybe some fun if it comes along. His first night at the Kink Club, he meets Arielle.
Black then takes us on a journey of two people who are still trapped in their previous lives and the emotions that tie them those lives. Black details the results of irresponsible extreme domination and Arielle's trauma is heartbreaking. Gage's response is just as painful to watch.
This is not to say that Black does not give us some great BDSM scenes or intimacy moments, there are plenty throughout the book. I love this story and I hope that there is a part two as I do not think Gage and Arielle's story is over. Amber Eyes is a happy ending, but I would love to see Arielle at the next stage of health and the play Gage and her could have then.
Read the book and then let's try and convince the author that she needs to continue Gage and Arielle because everyone loves a great romance.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
