My edition is the 50th Anniversary Library.[bc:Amelia Bedelia 774001 Amelia Bedelia Peggy Parish http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1353400157s/774001.jpg 888927]I read the snippet version of Amelia Bedelia in the The 20th Century Children's Book Treasury: Celebrated Picture Books and Stories to Read Aloud. It's been so long since I read it that I forgot about the pie, (how is that possible?) but now it brings so much more meaning to the young Amelia Bedelia's books. Love it all. My favorite I Can Read! books are the one's that take a great children's book and put it into the I Can Read! format. That is what we have here with the original illustrations featuring added full color and extra detail. It is vibrant and fun for the budding reader and has more images added by the original illustrator's daughter who also colored his original green and black illustrations. Fun and quirky! This is also included in the 50th Anniversary collection. Thanks to HarperCollins for providing a copy for review.[bc:Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower 155106 Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower Peggy Parish http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347266336s/155106.jpg 1096604]We are fast coming to like the more and more early reader stories we're finding with Amelia Bedelia. This one about a wedding shower is a new one for me and included in the Amelia Bedelia 50th Anniversary Library, it's a box set including three individual ICR! titles, all Level 2. “High-interest stories for developing readers.” Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower is interesting an includes a family member of hers that I had not met before. Here Amelia Bedelia and Cousin Alcolu help to prepare a garden wedding shower and both are of the same typical Amelia Bedelia literalism. It's one that makes you cringe and grin all at the same time. The illustrations in this one are by Barbara Siebel Thomas and I believe they might be my favorite version of Amelia Bedelia next to Fritz Siebel. Thanks to HarperCollins for providing copy for review included in the 50th Anniversary Library set.[bc:Play Ball, Amelia Bedelia 844354 Play Ball, Amelia Bedelia Peggy Parish http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347664103s/844354.jpg 760052]This Level 2 early reader featuring the literal Amelia Bedelia is illustrated by Wallace Tripp. These are different than the Amelia Bedelia images I am used to, but still fun and quirky just as is she. The short Amelia Bedelia adventure is good on community and great for a boy reader. This is another of the three books included in the Amelia Bedelia 50th Anniversary Collection. Thanks to HarperCollins for providing a copy for review.
