I'm so grateful that I got to read this book in advance, thanks to the amazing Lindsay (@novelitica on Instagram).
You like vampires that don't sparkle in the sun, the ‘found family' trope, great friendships, sarcastic characters and a fast paced story? Then this book is for you.
It got me at “An Absolute Bloody Disaster”. I feel like this title was enough to make me want to read the book. The fact that it's a book about vampires intrigued me, because we definitely need more great stories about these mythical creatures.
In Lindsay's book vampires are what you might expect them to be: stronger than a human, faster, with supersonic hearing, cursed to drink blood for the rest of their lives, they can use their gift of Compulsion in order to make humans do whatever they want and yes, the sun can burn them. Apparently they can train their bodies to tolerate the sun, but very few vampires actually do it.
Now let's talk about the characters. There's Charlotte, our main character, a fierce vampire who's been living for 213 years. The book is written from her point of view and I loved this fact, because Charlotte is such a funny and amazing character and she IS an absolute bloody disaster, which makes it even better.
The other characters are: Xander (Charlotte's brother) and his love, Victoria
Nik (I LOVE HIM)
Pippa - such a funny, witty character
Rose - I didn't particularly like her, but she's not that bad
You're going to meet them and fall in love with their dynamic, the crazy relationships they have, thier banter and their adventures.
The storyline is very complex, I loved the fact that some chapters were set in the past and they helped me to understand the characters better, to get to know their personalities. THE PLOT TWISTS were pure bliss. I was shocked by what happens in this book and that's a good thing, I didn't feel like it was predictable or expected.
So, this was a great book. I MEA.... VAMPIRES? C'mon, you gotta read it.
