Admittedly I didn't do a lot of research when I bought this book. There were no ratings or reviews on Goodreads, so instead I read about Aphra Behn on Wikipedia. She seemed an interesting character, who lived from 1640 to 1689, who was a spy, who travelled to Surinam, and who was one of the first female authors.

I was under the impression that this was a work of non-fiction, a biography. Instead, it is a fictionalisation, but more than that is is a very speculative fictionalisation. Most of the details are unsubstantiated, and it reads as far fetched and unlikely.

Poor selection by me, two stars for the book.
