Gorgeous. There's something about a Greek myth retelling that just crushes my soul. This was very well done. Genuinely touching and retold in such horribly realistic detail. My only gripe is I wish there would day be a retelling where Athena curses Medusa in order to protect her, I can not process how the goddess of wisdom could be so unwise in her treatment to someone so deeply wronged.
I thoroughly enjoyed this retelling of the world famous myth of Medusa.
There were a few tweaks on all other versions I had ever heard which was nice however I thought the ending was a bit too abrupt.
All in all a lovely book to read.
I don’t really get the point. The gods are assholes, the end.
Why is Athena such a b*tch?
I just finished Athena's Child by Hannah Lynn and here is my review.
Medusa is cursed with beauty she didn't ask for and seeks sanctuary with the Goddess Athena. Everything seems to be going well until Poseidon takes a shine to her and takes liberties with her in the temple.
Perseus embarks on an impossible quest but he is determined to succeed.
Both are pawns for selfish Gods and Athena's wrath has Medusa fleeing but can she hide without becoming the monster they say she is?
I love Greek mythology so when this book hit my TBR I was so excited! I really enjoyed Hannah Lynn's straightforward story telling. It was interesting and well written. I am not going to lie but I preferred Medusa's story over Perseus but it was still a very interesting story.
The whole thing was tragic and heartbreaking. The whole book mirrors our reality. Men of power get away with things regular people do not and that comes across in waves from this book.
I would have liked more to be honest but I did enjoy what I got.
