Cute is the perfect word to describe this cozy mystery written by Julie Lynn Hayes. Bad Dogs and Drag Queens is a double-headed official mystery that kicks off the “Rose and Thorne” series (it really started with a 500 word untitled flash fiction). Two federal agents travel around the Southeastern United States assisting local police enforcement on cases that they need help with where undercover work is necessary. Delarosa and Thorne are partners on and off the force. Very steamy partners.

We hear the story from Delarosa's point of view. He has a lot of internal dialogue (laugh). Since Delarosa is the one who goes undercover, it makes sense for Hayes to tell the story from his point of view. Plus, he is funny and he sees the world slightly left of center. He loves Ethan which is great to see.

Hayes gives us a good mystery with a couple with heart and heat. I'd follow them on a beat anytime.
