Be Mine: Sizzle / Too Fast to Fall / Alone With You

2013

I usually like everything Jennifer Crusie writes and I've recently gotten into Shannon Stacey but I agonized through this book of short stories. The Crusie story was too of its time which was about 10 years ago and just didn't age well. Or maybe I didn't age well. It was about an ad exec and a perfume campagin and its a world I'm a little too familiar with. I now know how cops feel reading mystery stories. “That would never happen in a real pitch meeting!” I kept yelling at the book the same way I'm sure cops and lawyers yell when they read bad police procedures or court proceedings.

The Victoria Dahl story was okay if a bit rushed and which is ironic sine it was about a girl who drove too fast.

And the Shannon Stacey story was just... okay. I liked the premise of how the couple met and the “stranded in snowed in restaurant in Maine” as how they had to work out their differences. It had the most potential of them all.

I'm glad I found this book in the secondhand bin. And its going right back.
