Blood Price

Ugh. I put off writing this review for three days because, not only do I not know what to rate it, I don't know how to write this review. Honestly, if it hadn't been written by Huff, I would have probably marked it as DNF and moved on by the halfway point. While I usually love Huff's work, this book just...wasn't very good.

I don't read much urban fantasy - in fact, I'd consider myself not a fan and had hoped that this book might be the one to change that . It won't be.

Specific notes: There's a lot of head hopping. Like, a lot. I mean, can we please quit jumping around each paragraph? The mystery aspect was...bad. Just bad. I can't sugarcoat it because so many revelations were made by just falling into the person's lap. There were a boatload of leaps of logic and a an awful lot of ‘following your intuition'. Honestly, this is why people that don't usually write mysteries should just avoid this as a sub-genre, because I've read quite a few books with poorly developed mysteries in them. And some of the characters? They behaved in ways that didn't make a lick of sense and it seemed like that was only to increase the tension.

Finally, it was quite fun to read a ‘contemporary' where they didn't have cell phones. Odd, but fun.
