Blood Trial

2023 changing my rating from 4 stars to 5 because honestly what was a thinking last time?!

I remember being annoyed with everyone the first time I read it, so maybe I wasn't understanding the cues and their situation. This time I understood and it makes it sooo much better. Yeah, the first 25% or so is a bit slow, but it is necessary to set up Basi's personality and the situation.
The one thing is that I don't quite understand how Ingenium has lasted 149 years. The village grew into a city, so more property was available for purchase maybe? The vissimo didn't have money in the past? People don't want to sell? I think showing us Basi getting houses so often makes the reader believe that buying properties is quick, much faster than it usually is.

So yeah, I love the characters, the writing, the tension between the leads, but the game itself is what I find the weakest point. Doesn't affect my rating in this book, but maybe in book 2.
