A breeze, but a very entertaining one. Some real gems that made me laugh out loud and some sound advice that's also applicable to us lesser mortals not in the film industry. After reading I have the urge to re-acquaint myself with a few of his films. I started with the Ipcress File, which is still enjoyable after seeing it for the umpteenth time.
An enjoyable easy read full of with practical advice
Hollywood legend, British national treasure and raconteur Michael Caine shares the wisdom, anecdotes, an insights that life has taught him. One of our best-loved actors Michael Caine comes across as a humble yet talented gentleman. He has starred in a huge range of films from the classic British movies Alfie, Zulu and The Italian Job. Plus modern classics such as the Dark Knight trilogy, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Hannah and Her Sisters and Cider House Rules.
The book's message is surprisingly simple:
:: treat people with respect,
:: be dependable and on time,
:: be prepared,
:: value the ones you love,
:: recognise that these people are the most important thing in your life, and
:: don't let celebrity, fame or success change who you are.
Caine also takes time to acknowledge those who've helped him. From his boss as the butter factory who told him about the Stage newspaper, all the way to Hollywood John Wayne.
Caine's unpretentious attitude is straightforward and unpretentious. Now in his 85th year his passion for work and how he lives his life is inspiring.
