I think it is really hard to pull off a book about a kid who can't read. Odds are, if a teen is reading this book than they are already readers and might not be able to find common ground with someone who struggles to recognize words. Bluefish pulls it off. By having multiple characters Bluefish is also able to tackle some other topics-such as dysfunctional families, bullying, and poverty. I really enjoyed this read and loved all of the characters. Connie, the librarian, rocked as well as McQueen- a teacher that goes above and beyond. With some great role models, and some nods to other great reads, Bluefish is a winner.
