This book is part fairy tale retelling and magical realism. I love all the characters, but Petey and Roza are the best. When their looks one being incredibly beautiful and the other being “ugly” mixes in with these strong female characters. The main character Finn is really interesting. I knew from an early start what his problem was about not being able to describe the man who took Roza. That may be because I've read a few books both fact and fiction about his problem. The only part I disliked was the fact that to see him as a person he has to do something heroic. Not that I'm discounting his heroic deeds but to stop belittling him by calling him deragatory names he has to “prove” himself “worthy” of kindness and being treated like a normal towns person. Otner tnan that a good fast read.
