Six horror stories deal with a haunted theater, messages from the dead, a series of gruesome subway murders, demons, cannibalism, and a monstrous giant

A collection of short horror stories. I felt like giving up many times, but I kept waiting for the Harry D'mour story, who reminds me a lot of Harry Dresden. He is a protagonist in the Scarlet Gospel, and I wanted to know him better before reading the book.
Could not finish this one. Maybe I will try it again one day but the start is waaaayyy better than the rest. And I just don't care anymore. No more short stories for a while I think.

I love these books. The imagination is fantastic but more importantly the language is just so delicious and satisfying. King may always be known as the master of horror but I feel Barkers rich syllabic gravy makes King feel like the fast food of horror. Yeah fast food is great but and you can devour it by the bucketload but when you get a juicy slab of well prepared seitan you can't help but hail it. Barker is gourmet horror.
