Breaking Up Is Hard To Do... But You Could've Done Better

In this book, Hilary put down stories of people who had to deal with a cruel break up. These stories were accompanied by funny and beautifully drawn cartoons. This book made me laugh and cringe a lot. Laughing because some of the stories, and mostly the drawings were funny, but also cringe because some of the stories were quiet cruel, how can people be like that?
I loved reading this book and I read it in 3 sittings. A real recommendation!

There's something enjoyable about reading other people's break up stories, believe it or not. I picked this book up when I was going through a reading slump and even though I took my time with it, it's definitely a light read that you can read in one sitting. The stories were so different and unique, some more interesting than others, but all of them deserved to be featured in this book. I laughed, even though I felt bad for them and the secondhand embarrassment was present most of the time. The illustrations were gorgeous and they fit the stories perfectly. You can take these stories as a life lesson and maybe avoid the chaos.
Turns out breaking up is, indeed, hard to do.

Encontré este libro en Netgalley en la sección de “Novelas gráficas”, por lo que pensé que este libro iba a ser una novela gráfica; pero más que nada es un libro que narra las experiencias de un grupo de personas en relación a separaciones de pareja, osea, “break ups”, y acompañado hay muchas ilustraciones que la autora hace en representación a cada historia. Cada historia (e ilustración) tiene una connotación más graciosa que depresiva, por lo que se me ocurre que fue diseñado de ese modo para sacarle algunas risas a alguna persona que este transicionando por un momento así. Algunas historias eran muy cortas, y otras eran más extensas, pero no había una desarmonía, si no que agregaba a lo que es el libro.
Luego con respecto a las ilustraciones, me parecieron simples, pero al mismo tiempo detalladas y características de la autora. Fue muy interesante ver diferentes perspectivas con respecto a la temática, tanto de hombres como de mujeres, y también fue entretenido. Las diferentes perspectivas te daban otra forma de ver las relaciones, y así mismo te hacia sentir identificado o por lo menos acompañado. Me pareció una idea estupenda, y sí tuviera amigos que leyeran en ingles también compartiría la lectura.
