Sadie White’s summer job is at the beach, but she won’t be working as a lifeguard. Since her mom is pregnant and refuses to work, Sadie will be taking over as a domestic servant for a wealthy family on a nearby island.
When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie were normal—if she hadn’t spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house—maybe she’d be excited about working for a rock star. But she’s not.
Even though Sadie isn’t impressed by Jax’s fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax, but he fights his attraction: Relationships never work in his world, and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. Yet as the summer stretches on, Jax’s passion leaves him breathless—and Sadie feels like the only source of oxygen.
Can their love overcome the disparity in their lifestyles? One breath at a time, they’re going to find out…

This was a very predictable story but it was also a very addicting read. Jax and Sadie were so stupidly adorable together that I flew through this book. This was basically the first new adult book I have read and I have to say I enjoyed it for what it was. These books are not amazing pieces of literature, but they are nice light reads when you are in the mood for them. I definitely will be reading more in this series.
Breathe by Abbi Glines is like a modern day fairytale. Although instead of having the prince charming, you get a teen idol rockstar that is sure to knock your socks off! Ultimately, I am still new to the whole Abbi Glines phenomena but so far everything she has written has pulled me right in from the get go. I love the concept of her books and this one in particular really made me smile. Some of the things the characters said (like the continuous use of saying “however” by Jax) turned me off a bit because that kind of writing should be used for term papers not conversation. But other than this, I really loved this story and can't wait to read Marcus's story next. Fans of the author (and those who are new to her) should definitely give this book a go. I honestly enjoyed it immensely and loved how sweet and vulnerable the characters actually were.
Sadie has just moved to Sea Breeze Alabama with her very pregnant mother. And because her mother is nearing the end of her pregnancy, Sadie has to pick up the slack and make money for the small family. So she takes her mothers work position in the home of Jax stone- a teen idol rockstar (and every girls dream). But Sadie is determined not to let this heartthrob keep her up at night, so she goes about ignoring him to the best of her ability. After all, she has a job to do and mouths to feed. But Jax Stone can't quite leave her alone. And soon Sadie is falling under this rockers spell.
Jax Stone is a teen idol- the boy that every girl wants to be with. But having never found someone he could connect with on a deep and emotional level, he played the field and just did his thing. That is, until Sadie walks into his life. To Jax, Sadie is a vulnerable, sincere, and sweet southern girl who is so much different than anyone he has ever encountered before. But he is afraid to let her in fully because he knows that his rockstar life isn't going to mix well with a relationship. So what happens when he falls in love? Can he have the relationship he's always dreamed of having with his career? Or will his career jeopardize his relationship?
Overall, I really loved this book to pieces. I found it to be really cute, sweet, and endearing. Jax is definitely a heartthrob, and Sadie is exactly how she appears to be (a cute, sweet, and innocent female that has the world on her shoulders). The love story, while it unfolds quickly, is definitely heart melting as well. Each of these characters stole my heart and I wish there were more that we could see. So, would I recommend this book? Absolutely! I honestly have loved everything I have read by the author and I plan on reading more in the near future! I read all of the rosemary beach so I figured I would start these, I am so glad I did.
One of the best exemple of an unhealthy relationship passed has a healthy one. NEEDING somebody to want to stay alive is not proof of a healthy relation.
This book has insta-love and Sadie has the lowest self-esteem ever seen. Since she was a little girl her mother (who is really a case for child services) has told her that she got her looks but that she has a bad personnality. Way to go mother of the year!
This book is partly redeemed by the secondary characters like Marcus.
I don't recommend this book.
