A really enjoyable read, this one. Well written characters, who are all able to be identified with. It is a story over two (plus) generations of two families. Commencing in Nagasaki at the end of World War II, it then moves to Delhi just prior to and up to the partition. It transitions to Karachi, before the final installment in New York and Afghanistan.
For me it was all about the juxtaposition of people and culture. A German man in Japan; a Japanese woman in Pakistan, a Pakistani (or Indian) mistaken for an Afghan, English in India and the English who become American.
All fantastically interesting places, and all described so well in this book.
