Why?
Strake and Soren weren't participating, and if the thing which joined their bodies felt anything of passion or triumph, the tiny fragment of awareness which was Soren could not sense it.It had reached out and done that to Strake and used her to do it, violated them both, and she didn't know why and she didn't know how to stop it if it chose to do it again and -
So, whatever grand power this is took over their bodies and raped them. There's no other way to look at it. And I don't need to read that. Ever.
EDITED TO ADD
So, this was one of those books that I thought I'd give another shot to and try reading it again. This time I made 5 more pages - to page 66 until I just couldn't. Trying to re-motivate myself - and trying to ignore the writing that is kind of bland, in spite of the rape - I flipped ahead. Soren's pregnant. Read some reviews. She's pregnant from the rape we witnessed. Oh, and the two survivors? They're in love. Isn't it sweet.
Done! Won't be returning to it or trying anything else from this author.
