Interesting premise but very messy execution. I'm a die-hard feminist but even I had a hard time with how many times the author reminds the reader that women in politics have it much harder than men - maybe she should have showed a little more and told a little less. The frequent use of parenthetical sentences and paragraphs just screamed for tighter editing. Plus I just didn't like the titular heroine. I get that she had a lot to learn and had changed her tune a lot by the end, but she hurt a lot of people and pretty much neglected her teenage son.
I got this book for free from the Amazon First Reads program, would have been rather annoyed if I had paid for it.
