I loved this, read it in one sitting. The story sucked me in, and I really loved the setting: small town, one room schoolhouse, and farms. Kendall is a strong female character who is driven. The twist is unexpected and thrilling. I understand this is to be a serious, I'm not sure how-it felt very complete to me. My only concern, and this is really minor, was the romance. There were instances were I was not fond of how Jacian spoke to Kendall, everything happens in a month's time frame and he seems very frustrated with her reluctance to be with him. Very minor issue. I loved how many of the characters in the story were from various ethinicities as well, a truly American story that reads like an episode of the Twilight Zone. I recommend this for adult and YA readers as well as middle graders who read at a higher level who enjoy a good mystery.
