Charlie and the Pacifica crew are hired to rescue a kidnapped Omega, but nothing is as it seems.
Charlie is a mercenary who takes the jobs: the hard jobs. This time the Alpha God of Kander is asking for her crew specifically for a job. Kander does not look kindly on humans and Charlie is all human. Her crew is a mix as Starr is half human and half Kalmar and Raakor is Hurr (definitely not human).
Now they find out that they are wanted to rescue a kidnapped Omega, but no further details. The payout is huge, but Charlie feels like she is missing something. The one thing she is not missing is the tremendous attraction she is feeling towards the female Alpha God.
The attraction is mutual and undeniable. Charlie may grapple with the decisions Kal, the Alpha God, made to get to where she is, but her desire has no qualms.
Now all she has to do is rescue the Omega, keep her team alive, keep the Alpha happy, and collect the bounty. What could go wrong?
Dancing in the Darkness (Luthor Publishing, B07QDR8SHR, 2019) is the first book in “The Alpha God” series by Lexa Luthor and I am already addicted! This story has so many twists, turns, drama, and “holy sugar” moments that I am so glad I do not have to wait to read the next one. (laugh)
If you have not started this series, you need to. Seriously! I know y'all are remembering a year ago when I did not read science fiction at all - you are thinking I am a pod person. I know. I know. Charlie is amazing. I love her character. The complexity of her life is very similar to the trials and tribulations that immigrants go through here and Luthor writes well-drawn parallels.
Romance, sci-fi geek speak, murder, gun battles, and drama, this story has them all. I will warn you that it ends on a cliff-hanger. Not just any ‘ole cliff-hanger either, an “oh my sugar cookies” cliff-hanger! Luthor has me all stirred up and isn't that what we want all writers to do to us? See you at the door....
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
