The story starts off with Riley Moon still trying to figure out the mess that is Emerson's inheritance when his old mentor cum monk Wayan Bagus shows up to seek his help in finding his missing Samoan island of solitude. All three of them along with Emerson's cousin Vernon proceed to find out more details about the island and end up discovering a conspiracy and cover up involving missing hikers in national parks, mantle plumes, a Spec Ops murderous loon called Tin Man, strange matter and ultimately Armageddon. What follows is the groups' silly adventures and escapades through volcanoes and lava tubes; finally ending in saving each other and the whole world.

The writing is funny with a sarcastic sense of humor, all the four main characters are crazy in their own way but I especially enjoyed the monk and his little doses of very untimely wisdom. Even though they are being chased my killers, they always manage to be on the periphery of danger and none of them really gets hurt. They always find their way out of tough situations quite easily and without spilling a lot of blood. However, the adventure is not why this book works; it's the characters and their eccentricities and the banter and the underlying craziness that makes this a breezy enjoyable read.
