This is the first I have read in this series and by this author ever. I for one enjoyed this story. If you are after an obvious romance with obvious sex scenes and your expected ending (due to the subtle romance) then this story is not for you. Do not go into this with expectations and you won't be disappointed. The romance is hinted at subtly with no sex hinted at until one certain point. But if one reads the story properly, there is an earlier moment that will lead to that one certain point and therefore becomes a ‘well of course' moment.

When reading this, remember movies with romance in them from the 1920s through to the 1950s. They were subtle, like this story. Despite having said all this, it was a little disappointing that the author was so subtle about the romance and not mentioning, even in passing, just their first intimate night together. However, I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
