Overall this feels like it should be book 20 in the series when we know and love all the characters. The murder happens too quickly because we don't know enough about the main characters or the setting before hand. We learn a bit about Krissie and Valerie along the way. I'm still not sure if we are supposed to giggle about the cozy tropes or if we are supposed to take them seriously.
I did like the little hints along the way about the murderer. I liked learning about the other side characters along the way too. I think they are enjoyable. The romance and the enemies and the friends and the job are typical of the genre. Krissie's queationing is over the top, but I don't know if we are supposed to recognize that and be laugh along with the author or not. If it is serious, again it reminds me of the middle of a series cozy mysteries in other series'. So hopefully things get a little clearer in other books. I enjoyed it enough to read the next one.
