Book two of the Poldark series—finished. Just as good as book one, I think, full of love and romance, greed and cruelty, death and poverty, such as you can only really find in historical fiction. Poldark is set in Cornwall back at the time of the end of the war in the Americas. Poldark is an aristocrat who fought in the war and returns home to find his father is dead and his estate is in tatters (book one). In book two, Poldark begins to develop a life with his wife, Demelza, all the while narrowly avoiding scrapes with the law over Poldark's stubborn view of justice in an unjust world.
