This book is a wonderful testament to the genius of Peter Saville. I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in Design. Saville's knack was always to be one step ahead of the game, whether it be record sleeves for New Order or books for Japanese fashion designers and this book showcases these perfectly. There are also several essays on Saville by work colleagues and critics that serve to flesh out his story, one that is, to all intents and purposes one of failure. Despite his work permeating the very world we live in (just look around at how ‘designed' our environment now is), Saville's grasp on his finances has always been tenuous to say the least. Once Factory Records fell apart he lost his autonomous zone and suddenly had to search for clients willing to indulge his genius. They have proved too few and too far between. Shame that.
