I think this book shows how much C. Rae D'Arc has grown as an author. This book was exciting and engaging from the very beginning. Small time skip but done well, and her chapter epigraphs and endings were so on point.
CAWPILECharactersPansy and Theo we don't get a lot of character work on, but they do feel like their own characters. Reading about Dunstan, Berwynna, and Urien was very fulfilling showing how evil can turn to good, and how easy it is to turn from good to evil.AtmosphereC. Rae really captures the Atmosphere of Horror beautifully and its very easy to envision exactly what it would feel like there.WritingWriting has improved. The endings of the Chapters left me wanting more, without feeling like a cliffhanger. Also enjoyed the Chapter Epigraphs.PlotThe Plot is there and important, but this book feels more on the character side of things maybe 60/40. InvestmentI had very few breaks once I started reading this book. It kept me wanting to know what was going to happen and how. Very EngagingLogicThe book is very consistant within its own rules, and everything the characters do felt in line with that character.EnjoymentI loved this book, lots of fun to read. and lots of snappy comments that made me laugh.
