The greatest risk isn’t running away. It’s running out of time. The car abandoned miles from home. The note found at a nearby hotel. The shattered family that couldn’t be put back together. They called it a “walk away.” It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over. But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke? Don’t Look For Me is: “GRIPPING...WITH UNEXPECTED TWISTS... You’ve got a cracking mystery on your hands.” —Adrian McKinty, author of The Chain “A NAILBITER . . . SO MUCH MORE THAN A TWISTY THRILLER. It’s a heartbreaking portrait of a family coping with grief and an insightful study of guilt and blame, gaslighting and agency. If you love fast-paced page-turners with relatable, flawed characters, look no further!” —Angie Kim, author of Miracle Creek “SHARP, NUANCED, UTTERLY REAL, and ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING, this beautifully written and emotionally powerful novel is Walker at her best!” —Karen Dionne, author of The Marsh King’s Daughter “UNSETTLING IN THE VERY BEST WAY and TRULY RIVETING.” —Samantha Downing, author of My Lovely Wife “A PULSE-POUNDING, THRILL RIDE OF A NOVEL WITH HEART.” —Kathleen Barber, author of Truth Be Told “A MASTER CLASS IN PSYCHOLOGICAL SUSPENSE.” —Cristina Alger, author of Girls Like Us

Whether or not you enjoy this book, like many thrillers, will probably come down to the ending and resolution. Most of the book moves along quickly ramping up the tension and suspense as we switch between the mother and daughter's perspectives. There are some interesting themes in the book, though they are not explored in much detail. I did find the characters engaging and relatable. The ending, however, left a sour taste in my mouth. Things became ridiculous to the point of parody just at the very end. Still, I mostly enjoyed the book.
This was a Good Reads win...and for me it was absolutely a win.
The book sucks you in right away. A family is torn apart by a terrible accident and nobody can pick up the pieces years later. The part that got me there is that what happened to the Clarkes could be any family struggling to start life anew after tragedy. But there's anger and guilt and nobody copes with those emotions the same. So that's why when they find Molly's car and no Molly there was no reason to believe that she didn't just walk away. Then there's a note. So the search ends. The thing about evidence though...it's only as good as the person looking at it.
The best thing about this book are the characters. Hands down. They feel so real. They pull you in. Even when you don't know who or what to believe. The pacing of the story itself was brilliant. The suspense was palpable. I felt like I could grab it out of the air. If life had let me I would've easily read this in one sitting.
Do yourself a favor...come September 2020, READ THIS BOOK.

This is one of the better books that I have read this year. I have read The Night Before by Wendy Walker which I loved and this is no different. I can for sure get behind the obsession that is Don't Look for Me. I actually received an arc of this book when it was first published and for some reason never got around to downloading it. My apologies. So, when I saw it at Barnes and Noble on my last trip I knew I had to have it. The cover really draws you in. Now let us talk about the book.
Don't Look for Me is a book about a mother who goes missing and her fierce daughter who is determined to find her. Nicole will find her mother regardless of all the evidence leads to the fact that her mother does not want to be found. The main theme in the book is child-parent bonding and the strong love of a mother who fights to survive. It addresses loss, grief, and guilt. If those are your triggers please give yourself time to heal before you pick this one up but it is for sure with the time.
It is well-written and character-driven. The story is told from two different points of view, Nicole the daughter and Molly the mother. When a family experiences a traumatic loss, each family member griefs differently and this was addressed in the book gently. It was also the main inner drive between Nicole and Molly. This is known to the reader because it was very well described and beautifully depicted in the writing. It's a fast-paced read that will keep you turning every page just to find out what happened to Molly. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. I hope you get to meet Alice, a character I loved! You might not understand her in the end but you will love her.
this one was pretty disappointing as it started out SO promising. Molly's chapters seemed so creepy and dark and I felt so anxious throughout them! I was so interested to see what was actually going on. unfortunately, I found that out a little too quickly. as the author starts to give “little” clues, I started guessing what was going and who was involved. it sucked to see I was right on almost everything. I also was so unbelievably bored with Nicole's chapters and found myself skimming through them a lot of the time. in the end, what is actually happening just isn't as scary or creepy as it seemed in the beginning (I think I've been reading too much horror lately so “standard” thrillers have been disappointing). I was pretty underwhelmed but also was still left with questions about those involved and their motives.. it didn't really make sense to me. this focused a lot on familial drama and relationships and how grief can effect these things and I just didn't really care about those aspects.
I think those that enjoyed Emma in the Night will still like this one but it just didn't work for me!
