Dragonflight holds up very well on re-read (after several decades). The story of Lessa, F'lar, and the other people of Pern still resonates. I had forgotten how brilliant, headstrong, and impetuous Lessa is. And vengeful. Don't cross her!
I would probably give this book 4 stars were it my first read. However, I will honor the opinion of my younger self and leave it at 5.

I must say I am surprised at the number of haters this book has gained. Mostly they take the form of “The characters don't think/act like I do, so it's baaad.” I am tempted to write something unkind, but nah.

Good book. An SF classic.
