Duty and Desire

I enjoy Pamela Aidan's novels depicting Pride and Prejudice from Mr. Darcy's perspective. This middle one, while an intriguing story on its own, is quite far-fetched, though. It creates an entirely new story for Mr. Darcy during the time he isn't present in P&P and seems quite un-Austen.
