Gratuitous just for it's own sake in ways that don't matter to the story. Also if I hear the word cow one more time not referring to a bovine...
Quite slow to begin with so I kept getting distracted by other books, but picked up a bit once I had the chance to sit and read it for a while. A little disappointing after the first in the series but I shall persevere!
