This book had been super hyped up by the time I picked it up which made me really excited and made me expect a lot out of it. I think that due to that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I would have otherwise. I was really unsure of it at first. I didn't know how I felt about the writing style, I felt like the plot was kind of slow, and I didn't immediately connect with the book at all. I powered through though because of the rave reviews I had heard and I ended up liking the book. As soon as the climax hit I really started enjoying it more because I obviously wanted to know who the culprit was, and while I was kind of surprised there really weren't many suspects which made it less impactful. I really didn't end up loving this book like everyone else seems too and it made me sad! I really wanted to love this book, I just.. didn't. Overall it was an okay read for me. I picked up all three books from my library so I could binge read them because I knew I'd want to read the other two immediately, but I haven't found myself reaching for the second book at all since I finished this one even though it's sitting on my bedside table. I do want to try to continue the series and finish it out, but I just wasn't as wowed by this as everyone else seemed to be.
