E-book exclusive extras:1) Christie biographer Charles Osborne's essay on Evil Under the Sun;2) "The Poirots": the complete guide to all the cases of the great Belgian detective.Arlena Stuart, the famous actress, is enjoying—like our favorite Belgian detective Hercule Poirot—a summer holiday on Smugglers’ Island, and will become a common enough sight, sunbathing on the hot sands. Then one azure morning her beautiful bronzed body is discovered in an isolated cove, in the shade. She is dead, strangled. And Poirot, as luckless as ever when he attempts some down-time, will learn in the course of his investigation that nearly all the guests of this exclusive resort have some connection to Arlena. But who had the capacity and the motive to kill her?Daily Telegraph: ‘Christie has never written anything better than Evil Under the Sun, which is detective story writing at its best.’

Another great Poirot story. I especially liked the characters in this one, and there were enough clues for me to actually try to puzzle out the solution (although naturally I was wrong lol).
Classic Hercule Poirot. If you know, you know!
5 Stars. Perhaps the greatest literary detective of them all.
I am a fan of beachside mysteries. I got similar feelings reading this as Dorothy Sayers's Have His Carcass (which I liked far better, but the feelings are similar). This one takes place at a beachside resort and involves a ton of scandal. The plot is clever, and the characters are interesting. Definitely worth reading.
Haven't read this since I was a kid and oh my, the matter-of-fact sexism and how it was simply universally accepted didn't register at the time. I started the re-read in February but couldn't finish it—it's not a long book!—and was reminded of it only as I was going through my year in review stats, but it still took me 7 days. The mystery is fine but I most likely not gonna re-read this again.
