The fourth book deals with the drow party's quest to find a means of travel to return to the Abyss, the attack on Menzoberranzan, and the focus on Ryld and Hallistra's relationship. It's somewhat obvious that was written by a female hand as there was more dwelling on the emotional side of things and the pace had been slowed down. The plot actually moves only a little in this book, but enough goes on to justify a book, particularly with the invasion. What I'm not sure about is how Quenthel is being broken. Whether this was a conscious design effort made by the author or Salvatore, I don't know, but I'm not quite liking how irrationally Quenthel is changing.
