If you haven't heard me before, hear me now. I LOVE these 10x10” hardcover storybook treasuries! My girls love them, they're wonderful and fabulous and I hope many more will come. This Fancy Nancy one is full of great stories taken both from a couple 8x8” paperbacks as well as some 6x9” I Can Read! Level 1 early readers. Just enough to send a kiddo to bed with for naptime or take on a trip, or just for fun during quiet reading time one day. My current early reader loves to look through it and work on her skills and my younger toddler loves to sit and just imagine the story she tells to herself through the photos. These storybook treasuries are made very well with the thick hardcover and thick pages and will last much longer than the paperbacks the stories come from. I'm delighted with it and definitely want to look for more! This would make a great gift, and has a “this book belongs to” page. From costumes, to candy, and Halloween traditions Nancy gets exuberant experiences and then events turn to the unexpected, yet Nancy is always resourceful and more fun can definitely be expected. This one is a great dialogue starter for finding out what children want to dress up as, as well as for discussing when things don't quite go as planned on the costume front. [b:Fancy Nancy: Fancy Day in Room 1-A 13133021 Fancy Nancy Fancy Day in Room 1-A Jane O'Connor https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1336168449s/13133021.jpg 18309476] Sometimes rainy days add up and get the best of us. This is just what Nancy, Bree and their class is experiencing. But never fear as Nancy saves the day with an idea for a Fancy Day, after all she never feels gloomy in her fancy dress. Best of all is the end when everyone learns how to share a little bit of fancy to make someone else's day a bit more sparkily. [b:Fancy Nancy: Splendid Speller 9721838 Fancy Nancy Splendid Speller Jane O'Connor https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1302983547s/9721838.jpg 15603126]The Splendid Speller is another I Can Read book fit into this treasury. While like Fancy Day, it is not explicitly a fall book, it still definitely fits within reason into a Fall Storybook Collection because of the new school year feeling. I love how these 6x9 books are fit into a 10x10 format by adding an orange sidebar flair. It's lovely and enchanting. With Nancy's vocabulary expertise it is no surprise to me to discover she is quite the splendid speller as well. Nancy finds fun in something that many students might fear and her experience with spelling is an encouragement to readers. However it doesn't stop there, as she is tempted to cheat... reading what happens, what Nancy did and didn't do and the events that unfold are another great dialogue starter with the earliest elementary students. Jane O'Connor https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1366277591s/17364570.jpg 24034750]Oh what excitement I have when adding a Fancy Nancy book to our apple theme books! This one is another 6x9 I Can Read title as well. All about autumn, what a lovely word that is. I like the word fall as it describes what is happening, but I love the word autumn as it just sounds pretty. Nancy “adores autumn” as well. Afterall, “Autumn is a fancy word for fall.” Nancy and her class are off on a field trip to an apple orchard which makes this book a great precursor to a field trip or a field trip in a book. This book would also be a great add on when doing apple comparison experiments. Throw in a boy cried wolf experience with Lionel and there is more to discuss as well! [b:Fancy Nancy: The 100th Day of School 6620311 Fancy Nancy The 100th Day of School Jane O'Connor https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1352204167s/6620311.jpg 6993113]Another 6x9 I Can Read book for the early readers. As I've started teaching my own girls at home I've come across lots of preschool and kindergarten ideas many of which focus on the 100th day of school. I personally do not remember such a thing celebrated when I was in school, but I think it is a neat idea showing the passage of time and celebration of so much progress done in school. All of Nancy's classmates are bringing in some show and tell of one hundred items each. Nancy is having difficulty deciding what she wants to bring. Events and the loss of a fiction make Nancy poetic and fills her with inspiration and she is creative after all in the end![b:Fancy Nancy: Our Thanksgiving Banquet 11651227 Fancy Nancy Our Thanksgiving Banquet Jane O'Connor https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348435475s/11651227.jpg 16595590]So it is just the beginning of fall, and we're already reading about Halloween, so why not add to that and enjoy anticipation of Thanksgiving too? Just like many of us, Nancy is excited to see family for the Thanksgiving dinner this year and Grandparents are her joy and excitement to declare! This book appears to be originally an 8x8 and an enthusiastic one at that... Lots of fancy, a good bit of french, and family fill the pages of this one. But in addition to the traditions which readers can compare to their lives and Nancy's family there are craft ideas! Read along and watch Nancy making a butterfly and turkey!
