This was a really, really cute book. For those of you who know me, it takes a lot more to get 5 stars for a contemporary novel out of me than it does for a fantasy. It just is. But, let me tell you, Fangirl got pretty close. It was an adorable book that was a pretty quick read and had me smiling out of glee a few times. I don't know how realistic it was, as I have yet to go to college...
Anyways, the only thing that probably stopped this book from getting 5 stars out of me were the characters, surprisingly. And don't tell me, “Oh, you don't understand, this is how fangirls are...” No. Just don't. I know perfectly well how fangirls are. Thank you very much.
But the thing is, I didn't really get super attached to anyone. They weren't terrible, no, but they were certainly not exceptional. Cath probably bothered me the most. She knew that she wasn't in the best situation and recognized that she needed to change, but she didn't do anything about it. I mean, really. She had multiple opportunities to change herself into a better, more-outgoing person, and she turned each. And. Every. One. Down. For the majority of the book. So, I guess that's my biggest gripe with Fangirl.
Overall it was a wonderful book and I'd recommend it to a lot of people. :)
