Guffaw - a loud and boisterous burst of laughter. I giggled when I read this word, and the scene it was on. Amazing how I came across and learned this because I like guffawing. There were also lots of interesting words used in this book that was so beautifully placed, reading it was flawless. There are times that I read on something that I feel was forced into a sentence. This book is full of nicely written sentences. Even wrong grammars were there only to test you and almost mocks at you when you didn't get the sarcasm.
So a book review, here you go:
I think this is a nice one although not a biggy to me compared to her first novel. I felt like since there was a lot of money made with Eleanor & Park, Rainbow has all the liberty(and money) to use lots of references because she can now pay for it. Did that make sense? Like The Outsiders and some other that was mentioned. So yes that was one.
What really got me is the setting. I mean. There are 3 books in this book. GTL's, Magicath, and Rainbow's. At first it was a little confusing, but when you get further, you also get absorbed the the other worlds too. Magical. It's amazing you know, how she managed to do that. I mean creating 3 stories in 1 book and it all has to go along with each other. Brilliant.
Characters were a bit ordinary. I think so far, there has not been lots of YAs that are set on college but I feel the characters were a bit deprived by their owner. Sure I like how Cather is very reserved even on the tension around her. Levi being all calm always happy. Reagan being well, Reagan but yes. The characters were a bit meh.
The Fandom. During highschool, at the time when Harry Potter still was not complete. I would gawk in the internet (sometimes) I would read magazines, posters, anything that will tell me what happens next. And you would imagine how I would act crazy when I get my hands on the latest book. I am still a Harry Potter fan. Always. So yes. I get the fandom thing.
The scene when Cath and Wren got the 8th book was how I practically was when I got HP7. I was crying. I can't even stop and ask myself why I was crying. So yes. The famdom. Altough I didn't read fan fiction. I didn't want to tarnish the beautiful world Jo had.
Happy thoughts.
I really like it when Cath reads to Levi. It's a different level of intimacy and it was again, beautifully written. Thanks Rainbow.
And her dad. I like their dad.
I have read some reviews asking for an epilogue. But for me, I think it was Simon and Baz's thing at the end. I think some are asking about the ending. But they already have their ending. It's just that they haven't realized it's ended. Maybe they didn't want it to end. So. Carry On.
