I've never snorted coke, gulped down pills or drunk bottles of alcohol so I guess I can't relate to the shenanigans in this book. In fact, I'm more on the side of the squares who were unfortunate enough to cross paths with Raoul Duke and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo.

Yes, I get it. It is a critique on the death of the American Dream from the counter culture point of view. The Silent Majority, led by President Nixon, ‘won'. But despite the occasional humourous vignettes during the road trip, I simply had no patience for the whole mess. You need to be high or have experienced drug-induced hallucinations to appreciate this book.
