This series was different from other new adult books in the sense that it's dramatic but not overly so for the sake of having drama. The characters and their problems feel very real. The author did a good job of expressing Zed's love for Aly. But what kept me from rating it higher is I want to know WHY? What made Aly such a special snowflake other than she's one of the best ballerinas in the country? That's like me saying I love my husband because he's an IT guy and he can build a computer like no other. Take away the ballet and I couldn't tell you what else made them fall in love. Aly was selfish at times and Zed often walked on eggshells around her, which made for a frustrating read. This wasn't a bad series but it's far from a great love story in my opinion.
