Idk why Louis didn't write more books that are over 200 pages. Every time he does they turn out to be much better than his smaller ones. Flint, as a character, is a little different then his usual main characters. He's dying of an illness and has a wife who's gunning for him for his Wall Street wealth. The story is set in New Mexico as usual but it's in a different part of New Mexico, being the Malpais Lava Beds, and he describes it very well. He's not having to deal with any Indians and he only has one fist fight that takes up only half a chapter which is a nice change of pace.
