A book with good promise, but somewhat bad executed.
It dragged out too much and when the two protagonists finally meet, its boring and not worth the build-up.
I enjoyed reading about Lyssa's and Cormac's “fish out of water” stories as each struggled to adjust to their respective new lives in a small Scottish village and London. However the attempt to shoehorn a romance between the two of them into the plot didn't work at all. It was too rushed and unbelievable, and the last few chapters in particular were especially frustrating with a series of missed opportunities for the two to meet face to face. The little bit of interaction that the two had via email and text just didn't justify the feelings they supposedly developed, and the abrupt ending didn't provide any opportunity for the reader to see them work on their relationship together.
On the positive side, Cormac is definitely not one of Colgan's typical grumpy, laconic heroes, and both MCs are admirably good at their jobs. Plus the few little scribbles that Cormac includes with his messages are adorable.
Colgan is hit or miss for me, and I'm afraid this one was a miss.
