I've heard that this book has been transformative for some people, so I was expecting a lot. It was fine, but it wasn't as earth-shaking as I was expecting. Perhaps church thinking and teaching has evolved since the book came out, so there wasn't anything new that stood out to me.

Short review: This is a brief and pastoral book about the Holy Spirit. Much of the church has an unorthodox (verging on heretical) view of the Holy Spirit. Chan is trying to show how to have a better view of the Holy Spirit, but not just a knowledge of the Holy Spirit. He wants us to know the person of the Holy Spirit. Great book! Listened to the audiobook and it was read by the author. He is not a professional reader, but has the passion of the author that is really better.
4.5 stars; not quite five for me, simply because it's more of a summary. It wasn't anything that completely blew my mind; I know I should live it more often, and it was a good reminder.
One quote that stuck out at me, after knowing many family and friends who are struggling to find churches that are truly welcoming and God-honoring: “ ‘You see, in the gangs we weren't just nice to each other once a week—we were family.' ... It saddened me to think that a gang could paint a better picture of commitment, loyalty, and family than the local church body.” Can you imagine if we really took to heart that idea that fellow believers are our brothers and sisters in Christ?
