I found the descriptions of academic diligence and the dedication to routine satisfying. And while the nuns seemed generally kind, there were moments where I wondered why being a child and enjoying oneself was considered a sin. The points system of penance and goodness in Catholicism was strange to me, and made me wonder what the point of it all is. If all your acts are performative, are they sincere?
