I checked this out from the library but it would be a great thing to own. Would also be a great to give as a gift. I smiled all the way through.
This collection of affirmations, initially written as Tweets, is an inspiring but quick read. It helps that I can imagine Lin Manuel Miranadas voice saying each and every one of them.
Lin-Manuel Miranda managed to write a book that walks the fine line between the overly sentimental and the inspirational. Reading this book, I feel nothing but inspiration and a feeling of contentment. Each of these little bits of bite-sized pieces of awesome are just perfect to ingest and take with you for the day or through the night while you rest. They are lovely, sweet, and wonderful and have an air of goodness about them. I recommend this for when you need a non-schmaltzy pick-me-up. For example, I will leave you with one of my favs -
“Gmorning.
YOU ARE SO LOVED AND WE LIKE
HAVING YOU AROUND.
ties one end of this sentence to your heart, the other end to everyone who loves you, even the ones you haven't heard from for awhile
checks knots
THERE. STAY PUT, YOU.
Gnight.
YOU ARE SO LOVED AND WE LIKE
HAVING YOU AROUND.
ties one end of this sentence to your heart, theother end to everyone who loves you in this life, even if clouds obscure your view
checks knots
THERE. STAY PUT, YOU.
TUG IF YOU NEED ANYTHING.”
Also, if you can't read the book, NO WORRIES! Lin-Manuel writes a new one every day on his twitter feed. Just subscribe.
It's narrated by Lin Manuel Miranda.
The review should stop right here.
Enough has already been said.
This man surprises me every damn time he opens his mouth what even is he.
The book feels like a one-hour long hug with Lin whispering in your ear.
My original plan was to listen to this and exchange for another, 5 mins in and I abandoned my plan right away and made a mental note to listen to this every night before going to sleep.
Such a sweet, funny and cute little book. It'll make you shed a tear, and laugh the next moment. Lin's way with words is a true gift to this world.
The ONLY self-help book (If you could call it that, well it does encourage you to get up and do stuff) which I would recommend fiercely to anyone who listens.
My only complaint?
How dare you make a book with Lin's voice only 47 mins long.
Just how dare you.
P.S.
Move over lullabies, am playing this to my future kids (ambitious are we?) as they slowly drift off to sleep.
