Super unique and different manga! Basically a coming of age story (with some pretty mature themes, so be forewarned if you are sensitive to that), but shown from the perspective of a character (PunPun) whose drawn as a bird while everyone around him is drawn in usual manga style people (although with exceptionally well done art). I thought this was a really unique storytelling device that I haven't come across before and was able to show how PunPun - along with his family - felt so different from those around him. Abuse, divorce and sex are all themes dealt with along the way, but somehow also in a way that doesn't feel cringe-worthy. PunPun is being swept along the road to adulthood with situations he doesn't fully understand or comprehend, which makes you feel for him on a personal level, and I think Inio Asami did a great job of capturing such a difficult age in a unique way that people can relate to, even if the main character is a funny little bird. I enjoy finding odd manga like this that are outside the ‘norm' and try something different and unique. Well worth checking out.
