In this new launch of a trilogy within the DC Icons universe, experience the origin story of a Super-Villain. This is the Harley Quinn backstory fans have been waiting for. When Harleen Quinzel scores an internship in a psych lab at Gotham University, she's more than ecstatic; she's desperate to make a Big Scientific Discovery that will land her a full-ride college scholarship and get her away from her abusive father. But when Harleen witnesses the way women are treated across STEM departments--and experiences harassment herself--she decides that revenge and justice are more important than her own dreams. Harleen finds her place in an intoxicating vigilante girl gang called the Reckoning, who creates chaos to inspire change. And when Harleen falls for another girl in the gang, it finally seems like she's found her true passions. But what starts off as pranks and mischief quickly turns deadly as one of the gang members is found murdered--and a terrifying conspiracy is uncovered that puts the life Harleen has worked so hard for at stake. Will she choose her future--or will she choose revenge? In this refreshingly feminist spin on the story of our favorite villainess, Harley Quinn: Reckoning traces Harleen's journey from precocious, revenge-obsessed teenage girl to a hardcore justice-seeker on her way to becoming the most captivating Super Villain of all time. This is one story that you won't be able to put down.

to begin with this has taken me longer then it should have been to write a review. i was in such of a good mood when i was reading this. i never wanted to put it down. i could've finished it in one day to be honest but i held back. so...WOW as a huge fan of harley quinn i honestly thought it wasn't going to be good enough but i was wrong !! the author did such a good job writing harley's character to be perfect, it felt like i was reading a comic to be honest ! i was imagining everything that was going on, especially when the gang was doing their projects against the horrible disgusting men to ever exist. I HATE MEN.
this also takes place before everything, before she BECAME harley quinn. it talks about her life and the people she has met as time is passing that slowly pathed her way to becoming one of Gotham's villain without herself and them knowing. Other than one person; Bernice. i love and live for LGBTQ+ books since i myself am pansexual <3 ANYWAYS when i found out that the book i bought was harley who i love and love the idea of her be attracted to females is a bonus !! i decided i had to read it right away. in reality it took me a year to pick this book up only because i didn't want to read it without having the other two books but i gave in and it was such a good idea. except for now having to wait to get them...sigh. oh the joker also pops up. i just know in the next books i'll get more; maybe.
from scenery, to verbal expression if that's correct to all the good things that put a book together it was all perfect to what it makes basically harley. don't know if that made sense, im sorry if it doesn't.anyways, i give it a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ !!! Rachel Allen, ma'am keep up the amazing work, i would love more H.Q books !!!
Harley Quinn is one of my favorite dc characters. I love the way dc's icons series gives a new and reimagined view of the origin stories of characters we've loved forever and some recently in the spotlight. And highlighting amazing YA authors and storytelling. DC should and needs to continue this project in the future.
