Mari feels unlucky in love. Expecting a present from her boyfriend, Nate, on her birthday, she gets more than she bargained for. The next day, on Valentine's Day, she receives a package that she hopes conveys the words she so desperately longs to hear. I need you. I love you. I can't stand to be without you. Unfortunately, there is only one word that strikes her right through her heart. Lovesick. When she thinks her day can't get any worse, she finds out she is wrong. Swearing off relationships, she tumbles into the arms of Chev, a guy who has always seen her. One heart-shaped box, some heart-shaped candies, and a dose of karma may be the recipe to revive her lovesick heart.

I literally wanted to grab Mari and shake her every time she got back with Nate… Like girl, LET HIM GO.
What Nate did on Mari’s birthday was shitty, he didn’t even have the decency to attempt to clear up the situation. Thank god for the mix-up with the courier otherwise, she would’ve gotten back together with him for the hundredth time despite everyone around her telling her that she deserved better.
I wish there was less time spent on Nate and more time spent with Chev even if it was just “Hi, how are you?” throughout the year or even in class but they gave us absolutely nothing. She just ran away from him at every turn, the MCs did not get together until like 70% into the novella. By the time they finally got together, I was like “Ugh, finally.”
